Your Real Treasure

“Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Ruach ha-Kodesh who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own?” (1 Corinthians 6:19 TLV)

A while ago there was a man taking a road trip with his dog, Sundance. He stopped for a meal, leaving his dog in the car. He returned to the car to discover his dog had ate his wallet containing several hundred-dollar bills. It proved to be a costly meal.

We must realize we have something better than gold in our hearts. We have the Holy Spirit, as deposit or down payment, guaranteeing what is to come. “Now it is God who establishes us with you in Messiah. He anointed us, set His seal on us, and gave us the Ruach in our hearts as a pledge.”  (2 Corinthians 1:21-22 TLV)

Our greatest treasure is within us. “But we have this treasure in jars of clay, so that the surpassing greatness of the power may be from God and not from ourselves.” (2 Corinthians 4:7 TLV)

That reality should lead us to a life of thanksgiving as our heart overflows. Thankfulness is not a momentary feeling, it’s a constant attitude. It is the Holy Spirit who reminds us of our blessings in Messiah. Be thankful today.
